Caring, innovative, pet care. Sabrina is a superstar!

They have been brilliant so far with our little girl

Unfortunately my mums 1st and only visit to Carnforth Pet Care was not a happy one, recently moved to Carnforth with 2 Norwich terriers 6 and 7yrs old which had previously been advised to have their teeth cleaned. Carnforth Pet Care quoted 125 each but would be 160 if any extractions were needed which was lower than previous quotes ( 185 including any extractions with my vet ) so the dogs were booked in but the total cost on pick up was just over 690. When the dogs were admitted my mum was told the cost would be an extra 90 each due to cost of antibiotics which were needed so if extractions were necessary the cost suddenly jumped up from 320 to 500. More than a little shocked but my mum thought well the dogs were there had missed their breakfast was thinking perhaps would be similar at other vets so she agreed. She went to collect the dogs and was told total bill was not 500 but 693 and when queried was told they were difficult and needed extra anesthetic. My mum who is 85yrs old was totally shocked by this and it is being looked into by the governing body. Carnforth pet care have offered to put the 70 consultation fee onto my mums account, they say they don't want to lose her custom as they have become fond of the dogs ( on their one and only visit ) but since my mum has no intention of using the vets again we have rejected that offer and the matter is now being referred to the veterinary college. My mum was also told that one of her dogs needed an operation on it's throat which she was also told needed to be done within the next month and if referred would cost well over 1000 but Carnforth Pet Care would do it for 400 to 500. My mum has since gone back to her old vets of over 30yrs for a second opinion. They asked Carnforth Pet Care for a detailed report on this throat condition and after reading the report one of the vets partners has told my mum in her opinion there is no urgency and there may be no need for surgery.

I would highly recommend Carnforth Pet Care, well worth having to travel a few miles to get to ! Amber isnt the easiest patient to deal with, but they always welcome her calmly and dont rush things, allowing her to calm down a little before we start proceedings ! They are always on end of the phone, or answer emails promptly. After our visit in November when I had to leave her for the first time at a vets, I was less anxious about leaving her recently -I knew she was in good hands !

Friendly, knowledgeable people, very professional, who checked over my newest cat today. Its clear the team truly care about their patients. Theres always someone on the premises too - what peace of mind when anyone has to be kept in overnight.
